Dell Latitude C800 Power Supply Turns Off When Battery Ins..

Hi everyone,

I purchased a new battery from Dell that was listed as compatible with
the Latitude C800 because my existing battery didn't seem to be
holding a charge anymore.

So I received the new battery, but as soon as I slide it into either
expansion bay, the power supply turns off (the green light on the
'brick' fades away), and the systems starts running off the battery.

Its almost as if when the power supply attempts to charge up the
battery something clicks and it turns itself off.

Has anyone ever seen this happening? I saw one other post about it a
while back but there were no responces.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
