It is reported that Sony and Toshiba are on track to make chip at 65 nm in mid 2005 and certainly that chip is powerful. While AMD and Intel can only start it 90 nm mid 2004, why do not Sony and Toshiba move in to the PC processor market and "finish" Intel and AMD with their superior chips.

Hi hi, what an idea.

Yeah, that 65nm chip is for PS3...it's called Cell. Seeing as it's not x86 or anything remotely related to it, I doubt that it will make its presence felt in the computer market. Additionally, this chip won't be ready until 2005, when Tejas is released and when San Diego will be kicking ass. I highly doubt that Sony and/or Toshiba can take-on Intel and/or AMD, especially since they aren't even talking about making a CPU processor, just Cell.

Damn Rambus.
