When i was turning off my computer last night, windows performed a system update. I was too sleepy so i turned off the power right away without getting the system update done. Today when i logged on to my computer, my desktop background turned black, i cannot open up any file, even My Computer and control panel. This, "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item" pops out every time i try opening a file. I tried method mentioned here, http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/5218-63-cant-explorer but it is not working for me as the Property option doesn't come up. Please help me....

Try checking the disk integrity by running startup repair , try a system restore. You can do these actions by running repair your computer.
