OK, I've been looking into this for a while now but before I take the plunge I wondered if the esteemed people on this forum might be able to offer their advice.
I was looking at buying the ip webcams from eyespy247 (mainly for external use but one or two for internal installation as well) since they 'appear' (or so i hear from other forums and postings) that they are a doddle to set up with a BT Home Hub, which is what I have.
And they also provide access to remote features which would be useful for me.
I've also looked into some cameras from y-cam and panasonic and while the former sound great I think they are working out quite expensive for a start and as for panasonic, the brand obviously gives me peace of mind but I'm not convinced I'd get the support I need if something went wrong (but then I could be wrong).
That's why I'm hoping some good people here might be able to confirm for me if I am doing the right thing by getting in to bed with eyespy or if I should look elsewhere?
Despite not getting any info or advice from erstwhile members here I took the plunge and went with IP cams from eyespy so just wanted to give you all (interested) folk an update in case you have the same needs at some point.
I got a couple of their camera (the EXT and PTZ) and both have very good video quality and were as simple to setup as they said they would be.
The only downside I discovered was the software on their CD, which could do with a bit of a revamp (which I understand they are working on).
That said, they pointed me in the direction of vitamindinc.com and now I have a cctv system which not only records to my PC but also records to the web portal that eyespy provide for backup and remote access to my recordings....oh and eyespy take care of sending me email and sms alerts whenever something triggers the recording from the cameras.
All in all, a good choice and so far all looking good.
