Backlight stays on after shutdown

I have a 6 yr old westinghouse 22" that suddenly has this issue.
All functions work properly, but the backlight stays on unless I unplug it. Power button seems to be ok.
Weird.

Bought a new 23" HD monitor, on sale and free shipping.
Will take old one apart and try to fix it for use as an extended desktop.
