I just upgraded my computer from ME to XP. Under ME, if I forgot that I left
a floppy in the drive, and rebooted, the system would try to boot off the
floopy.
Under XP, I created a rescue floppy disk (using Norton's Systemsworks), put it
in the drive, rebooted, and the system came up as usual without trying to boot
off the floppy. I checked my BIOS start settings, and the floopy drive is
the second
selection (after CMOS). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

CMOS isn't a boot option. It is probably your cd drive instead. If you
want the floppy to be first, put it first. Then your hard drive should
be second.

Do you mean the second after CD-Rom? CMOS is your BIOS settings and the boot
sequence won't have a setting to boot directly into the CMOS. Set the
sequence so it is like this
floppy
CD-Rom
C (sometimes referred to as HD0 or Hard drive)

JR

Go back into BIOS and set the first boot device to floppy whenever you need
to use a diskette.. the BIOS is completely independent of the operating
system, so can be done at any time.. for now, unless you need to use the
floppy, you can leave things the way they are..
