Simply put....
Celerons SUCK. Totally useless except for office apps.
Any multimedia type use you need a P4 or an Athlon.

Athlon 1000mhz > celeron 2500

My own beast: Athlon 2700xp+ (oc: 3200xp+ with 200fsb) , Radeon 9800pro (oc: 410/370) , 512mb ddr400. SO MUCH faster than my last computer (pIII 550......)

That would be about as good as a Pentium 3 !Ghz or Athlon 1Ghz as previously said.

You may want to check out this review to find out yourself. But those guys who replied here earlier should be about right. In the review that I gave you, the Athlon XP 1700+ (1466MHz) is ahead of the Celeron 2.6GHz by a huge margin, so I believe a 1.1~1.2GHz Athlon should match a Celeron 2500 in performance for gaming.

Thanks guys. I thought that it might be equal to a AMD 1.6 1.7 but oh well. Fry's Electronics don't have a good deal on any AMD 2.4 right now. But they do on a Celeron 2.5
Guess I will wait. Thanks ;)

Celerons are for people who don't know anything about computers except how to use a couple programs, and are unwilling to learn about them at all.

I can send you my old AMD K6-2 233MHz, you should have about the performance of the 2.5 GHz Celeron.

Avoid buying ANY Celeron, get an Athlon XP or Pentium 4 to get DECENT performance in gaming and productivity apps.

I REPEAT : DO NOT BUY Celeron. Celeron are NOT good at all. Even for CHEAP systems, AMD offers a lot more for the same price or even lower prices!
