Since I don't see a forum for building I'll try to post these questions here. I've put together this system
mobo P4 Intel 865GBF,
CPU P4/2.4C 800MHz
Ram Corsair 64X64 512mb non ecc unbuffered
HDD WD 180GB 7200 RPM
DVD writer Pioneer A06 DV+/-R
My questions, before I boot up are; is the tape on the heat sink thermal tape, negating the need for Artic Silver? Isn't non ecc and unbuffered ram correct for this board. And,, what is the volt rating of the molex connectors? Yellow=12v, red=5v. One drive lets the connector go in either way.
1.) Yes, the black material is a great conductor, rivaling Artic Silver, you would use either one or the other, not both.
2.) Yes, unbuffered/non-ECC
3.) Correct, yellow=12v, red=5v. All drives are keyed so the power only goes on one way. Most are keyed so that the slanted corners are on top and the square corners on bottom

Everything seems to be ok. I spent most of the day downloading updates from MS on a dialup con. It's not a speed demon but I think it will give pretty good service. Thanks for the information everyone.
