duron 1.6 overheat?

I am getting ready to order a Duron 1.6 cpu. It seems that I can only get OEM. My question...do they need a HS or fan for cooling even if you don't oc? The case I'd be putting it in is Antec SLK2600AMB Retail w/300W PSU.

as crashman would say: OH MY GOD! Yes it needs a heatsink and fan, it wont last 5 seconds without it!! you can buy all kinds of durons on ebay.....with heatsinks and fans!

Thanks for the info. As you can tell I'm not very familar with some important info regarding a new build. I'll check around for a HS w/fan for this cpu.

Wow running a CPU without a fan ...... those were the days. The last cpu I can remember using that didnt need a fan was an a pentium 75 and it came with a mean mother of a heatsink to make up for it. As for no heatsink at all im not sure, even my old 386 had one.

Stupid bug.......you go squish now!
