I had this very suspect email come back to a question I posed about the
recent thread "Suppliers Licensed to Make Parts".

Come forward the 16 who are being sued? Atleast let us know now so we
can get what we can from you while your trading?

Odd how "John C Anderson" and Wayne have a very similar writing style
;-)

"We have tried to work with them however that option has now been abandoned."

Seems to have same stilted syntax we've come to know and love from
Wayne himself... certainly doesn't sound like a lawyer to me.

Also comical how his signature is of John C Anderson...whoever when
Mr. Anderson posts on the newsgroup their newsgroup nickname is "Mr.
Pinball Austrialia".

....all in the same.

I think the only thing Wayne really bought was the domain name :)

I wish everybody would QUIT bickering over who is making this and who
is making that. If they would spend more time actually MAKING PARTS
than slapping peoples wrists it would be better for everyone.

I have no beef with Wayne, who has been a gentleman in all his emails
to me... but, without taking sides, I feel obliged to comment in
defense of the lawyers that we don't *ever* say:
> > > I have been put in charge of litigation of all the people who are making

We may say we have been put in charge of litigation *against* all the
people...
or we may say we have been put in charge of litigation *with* all the
people...
or we may say we have been put in charge of litigation *concerning* all
the people...
We would never say we are "in charge of litigation of all the people."
When we say we are in charge of ligitation "of" that would relate to an
issue or to a certain type of case by name or subject, but not as to a
class of people. Although grammer is not something not to be picked on
when a person posts, (and Lord knows I am the world's worst speller) I
do suggest that a legal phrase which is misused makes the validity of
the claimed legal background of the individual suspect. It's sort of
like hearing a person who claims to be a doctor describing a traumatic
injury or laceration as a "bad boo boo." :)

I'm sorry get off the bottle Bob. Don't insult my intelligence. And I
have an MBA. What it is exactly you are trying to mumble in that
message you just sent?

Correct my above to read, "...is something not to be picked on..."

lol. Or a *real* one. :)
And it's lucky my original double negative typo (above) was not used in
a legal phrase or I'd be suspecting myself right about now.

P.S. I plan to go to California Extreme on Saturday. I would enjoy
meeting any RGP member who is also going. My cell phone is 521-5000
and my area code is (eight-one-eight) so give me a call around 11:00
that day if you are there and would like to say hello.

Do lawyers globally use the same syntax? I mean, it'd be one thing if
this alleged lawyer said something like "I'm going to fry their shrimps
on the barbie!" :-D

To read so much into the use of a 2-letter word ... I personally
wouldn't be comfortable that. No offense intended, Bob - you seem like
a very nice, honest, earnest guy to me.

Wayne has flatly denied using multiple user IDs and I believe him.
Then again, I believed Raphael Palmeiro in front of Congress too, so
who knows?

Hi, Jim: And no offense taken.

You are right that terminology may vary from country to country (or
even place to place) but no matter where a lawyer is practicing, in
suing people he would never engage in litigation of people and would
only litigate against them. It isn't a question of syntax so much as it
is a question of basic legal terminology and fundamental legal
concepts.

But, having said that, let me hasten to add that I was not inferring
Wayne had composed the post. It was just my thought that the person who
wrote it did not sound very much like a lawyer... but someone who isn't
a lawyer can still be in charge of the litigation unit within a
company, so there very well may be a real John C. Anderson heading up
some Legal Department. That is an issue I did not intend to get into,
because I want my involvement in this hobby to remain a pleasant
distraction from the daily arguments I *must* engage in to fight for my
clients and to earn a living. Sad but true. :-( ~ :)
