I am repairing someones Dell with XP on it. It has an unrecoverable Boot
Error with the NTFS File system.

I am preparing to Copy the uneffected Files using a Linux Bootable CD Called
"Knoppix"

I wonder if anyone can tell me if the Smaller Partition on the Drive (the
Non XP Partition) Is important to clone over to the New Drive if its
Intended to be used in the same Dell PC. Ita about a 30 MB Partition. Whats
it used for ?

It has some Dell service utilities that are also
on the utilities
disk that came with the computer. Don't worry
about it.

Probably a sector relegated to recovery. Instead of getting CD's of
programs with your computer purchase( including the OS), Dell and
other companies, create a backup/recovery of critical files on a
separate partition of the HD.

No, they don't. Dell's come with a standard XP install disk, labeled as a
Dell Operating system disk. As a previous poster said, it just contains
utilities that are available when you boot the resource CD.

No offense, but if you're not sure, an answer like this could confuse the
OP.
