Guys,
I have the Conectiva Linux and when it starting the eth0 interface shows ok, with connection. But when I use any program to access the internet into Linux, it can't connect to the internet. The LAN adapter is configured.
Thanks!

"Can't connect" can mean a lot fo things. Firstly, does dns work? Eg, does "host www.tomshardware.com" return an IP address? If so, can you ping it? Also, what is your network like? Do you have a firewall, a proxy, etc?

Do I look like I care?

I have a normal connection in Windows OS and Conectiva Linux 8 in another partition (before the Conectiva I had Red Had 7.3 and the connection was so good). I have a Encore LAN adapter card. I tried to ping a lot of sites but without return.

ok, so you pinged the sites, but could you resolve the names? eg, did ping www.yahoo.com time out, or did it complain about the name not being found?

I have tried to change some parameters in the network configuration but without success. I also tried to ping some sites, like www.yahoo.com, www.tomshardware.com and after some time, a message: "couldn't ping the site ...."
The adapter address of my network card is different of the address that I informed to the internet provider. Can be this, but I don't know who can I change this address. I am trying.

Thanks!

who is the ISP? Is it broadband? Is it a dynamic or static IP? Can you ping the router? Can you ping yourself (127.0.0.1)?

My ISP is www.directnet.com.br (in portuguese) and it works with radio broadcast.
The IP is static.
In Windows I use the internet without problems, but in Linux, it's no connection.

what does this mean? Are you referring to the MAC address, or the IP address? If you've got a static IP address assigned by your ISP and you're using a different one, thats your problem.

Do you have DHCP enabled?

look the informations about the network settings in my computer:

Where you see "HW address" in the firt line, is different to the address of this netcard when in Windows. I don't know how can I change this address.
Note: As you can see, I have deleted my IP address in this mail, only for security.

Okay, your loopback ip is all good, but what about your other one? The one you deleted that is. Is it 127.0.0.1 or 192.168.0.1 or is it something different? I don't really care what it is, just so long as it's not something funny like that.

you can't change the hardware address (also known as MAC address). It looks like you're talking, based on the RX and TX packet count. Can you put a 2nd Pc on the LAN and try to ping each other?
