Trying to upgrade a Packard Bell C300 cpu.

It's a Slot1 Celeron 300Mhz currently.

Anyone know what it will support in terms of an upgrade ?

Was thinking P3 Slot1 500Mhz.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

A Pentium III Slot 1 runs at a voltage (2.05v) which should be compatible with
the motherboard. However, if the board uses the Intel 440LX chipset, a P3 will
not run at the required 100MHz front-side bus speed. If the board uses a 440BX
chipset, then the P3-500 is possible, but you may need to replace the memory
with PC100 memory, if the memory currently installed is only PC66... Ben Myers

Thanks for the reply.

Sounds about right. Tried the p3 500 and the system doesn't boot.

I can't find anything on the motherboard to say what it is..............:(

I guess if it's an LX chipset then I am reduced to Celeron CPU upgrades from
300 to 433mhz on the pentium II range as you said.

The motherboard does indeed have pc66 memory.

Cheers

In fact it's an EX chipset.

So limited to 333mhz - ah heck!
