AMD 2500 in GA7VAXP fails!

Hello all. I put a new 2500XP processor in my brother's computer with a GA7VAXP mobo, 2x256MB PC2100 Crucial RAM, Radeon 9600Pro, 300watt Pcpowerandcooling PSU, and it restarts when I try to start Windows XP Pro. The only component change I made was going from a 1Ghz Thunderbird to the 2500XP. I have not overclocked.

The computer posts fine and recognizes the processor, RAM, IDE devices properly, but restarts the computer at the Windows loading screen. I tried starting the system in safe mode, and it always hangs and then reboots on Mup.sys.

Any thoughts? Thanks,

Could be ram timing. Did you set the ram to run sincronous? Most ddr 266 cant handle an fsb of 166. Set your ram to 133 or 4/5.

I found a footnote on an online manual for the GA7VAXP Ultra--only DDR333 RAM works with a processor running at 333Mhz.
