How Do I Know if it is Hyper Threaded

Forum CPU & Components : CPUs How Do I Know if it is Hyper Threaded

I just bought a Dell Dimension 8300 P4 2.6 GHz with hyper Threading.

When I try to see the details of components it only says p4 2.6 GHz.

Is there a way to find out if the processor is really Hyper Threaded?

I have heard of SiSoftware Sandra Utility program. Would that identify it?

Thanks

During bootup check the screens as they flash by. If HT is enabled it will say so then. Unless Dell uses their own splash screen. You can also enter BIOS and check there. HT should be enabled there too.

Could use <A HREF="http://www.aida32.hu/aida-download.php?bit=32" target="_new">AIDA32</A>. In the motherboard->CPUID section.

WCPUID is an small easy program that will show you if you have HT by reporting the two logical processors as CPU1 and CPU2. It will also show you more details about your processor and busses.

You could also just bring up the task manager and click on the performance tab. If HT is enabled, you'll see two CPUs instead of one. (Assuming you're still using the Windows XP that shipped with the comp).

If you have XP, go the the Task Manager:
Performance -> View -> CPU History -> One graph per CPU.
If you see 2 graphs, it's Hyper Threaded.

Sure, I've installed an SLK-947U. But how much better is an Intel stock fan than an AMD one?
