By the time Intel gets that CPU to market and they must produce one or die....AMD is going to have the next generation out!!

I imagine they have not been sleeping next to screen savers since they released their 64.

Investor’s Business Daily on Wednesday published an article quoting Intel public relations’ officers saying that the Santa Clara, California-based chipmaker has a working prototype of a 64-bit x86 design that it could bring to market “when customers request it.”

Erm... Me! Me! Me! I request it! I want a 3.xGhz (or 4Ghz) Prescott with 64 bit extensions! Me! :smile: Who else is on board?

And as for them sleeping, I can't imagine Intel isn't prepared. They must have a contingency plan ready by now... My bet is that Prescott has those damned extensions.

So, really, really, the thing is:
<request>
Intel, I'm a Customer! Enable those extensions...
</request>
