5.1 System

Hello, before starting i want to advise that it is hard for me to express problems about a matter that i know little of, and in a foreign language. Im also not sure if this is the correct placement for this thread.

I just got an amp that supports 5.1 dts and dolby digital but im having alot of trouble making it work with my laptop and monitor.

The amp: Yamaha Natural Sound Av Receiver RX-V365.

My laptop: Toshiba Satellite L650-18c

Monitor: Phillips 273EH Gaming etc.

At the start i was intending on getting 5.1 audio through an hdmi, connecting my laptop to amp and amp to monitor.
However, I read somewhere that the amp was an older model, and needed optical connection to get 5.1 audio, even if I used and hdmi. I decided buying a SWEEX external soundcard with otpical output and connected it to my laptop, since it doesnt have optical output itself.
While waiting for the external soundcard, i have been playing the sound throught stereo, and normally only the front right and left speakers were being used (and subwoofer).
Now that i have the soundcard, the situation is inverse. I dont have any sound from the front speakers (only if i get back into stereo).
If I go to the control panel and test DTS, only the center and the other 2 behind work (and subwoofer ofc), and the 2 surround repeat their test tone 2 times.

(As im writing this, i tested it again, and now, they only activate once, but the front remains silent, leaving a silent space in the middle of the test) i figured it out. when it has cinema dsp activated, the surround speakers repeat.

This might be a settings problem, but there are so many options. I have tried a little of everything, but currently, i have
the amp on Pro Logic 2 Game, PCM, input is CLB/DVR.

I have an image of L and R, in the amp screen, however during the test all speakers show up, but after the test it return to L and R. During the test, DTS or Dolby Digital signs also light up.

Neither of the setups seems to help, either if its Cinema DSP, Music Enhancer 2 or 5 Channels, Straight, Pro Logic and Pro Logic 2.
