40gb pata hard drive

Hello,Can I replace a 40gb PATA hard drive with a 160 gb to my laptop.
? if so will it be easy to install

We need to know more about your laptop as the install of hard drives in laptops can be easy or hard depending on manufacturer.

should be possible, but beware, that anything on your old harddrive will not magically be on the new drive, so be sure to back it up somewhere. also, you OS(windows or whatever you might be using) is also lost.

that aside, you should still be able to find 2.5" pata drives for you laptop.. just be SURE its pata, as a sata drive wont fit/work.
