I have a HP PC 3-1/2 months old. I am currently waiting for my 3rd monitor.
After using the computer for a short while, all the colors go crazy. I have
vrious shades of aqua, pink, purple, green, etc. nd the print is almost
unreadable. HP tells me it could be the "onboard video card", but they also
continue to send me new monitors. Any suggestions as to what it can be?

I had the same problem on my computer a week ago now, garbled text, colours
of all sorts on the screen, first thought it was my monitor, then thought it
might be my nvida card.....nope! discovered it was a bad component on the
mother board

If you have an AGP slot or an open PCI, try a different card.
That'll tell you in short order.

Its really worth buying a custom PC from a small dealer not going for
big names like Dell / HP whatever, they build to a price and chuck all
sorts of extra junk and software bundles in at the expense of quality
components and service. Less is more yer know.

It is very likely to be a duff Motherboard, less likely but possibly
overheating either way you want a new MOBO at least.

The "on board video card" is built in on the Motherboard. Its very
very unlikely to be the monitor, ask for a new Motherboard don't let
them keep fobbing you off with monitors, or try to get your money
back.

Monitors are easy to exchange, Motherboards involve some actual labour
which eats into the vanishingly small profit margin on HP / Dell / etc
machines. They will keep swapping monitors and bullshitting you
forever until you either go away and buy another PC or threaten legal
action.
