2.5mm Male to 3.5 Female Adapter for Microphone for Xbox 360

Can someone suggest a 2.5mm male to 3.5mm female adapter for a microphone for the Xbox 360 controller? I have bought this one from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/2-5mm-3-5mm-Female-Stereo-Adapter/dp/B001078FV8

But it would not work. My Xbox controller would detect it, but would not transmit my voice. Please help! Thanks in advance.
