Reviewers had A64's months before they could release reviews, they also had P4 EE's week's(months) before they could release reviews on them.
Why cant we read review`s of the Prescott, it is shipping richt ?
THS reviews generally say what is already known about the differences between Intel and AMD CPU's. AMD's are the best for gamers while Intel rules the graphic developement and movie making departments. This is definately unbiased reporting.
If you want bias, go to MaximumPC. There they do things like pit 1.5 GHZ AMD's against 2.2 GHZ Intels and then say the AMD sucks even though the 2.2 GHZ intel barely beat it out in the benchmarks. The 1800xp was only outclassed by at least 400 mhz, 700 if you actully count the raw speeds. This means the AMD CPU stomped the comparable Intel CPU, but Maximum PC had to prove that AMD sucked, so they pitted it against an Intel CPU 2 full generations newer then the one that existed when the 1800XP was released. Now That's biased.
Read the July 2002 edition of Maximum PC for the review I am referring to.
I dont believe it, if there is 1 site that is not Intel Bias, it will be Toms Hardware Site !
What you guys think ?
I think your interpetation of THG was correct a couple of years ago. Make no mistake THG does do biased editorials, favoring Intel and Nvidia. No I would not go as far as to say they lie. Having a biased nature only means you are trying to determin the out come inadvance of the test.
It is easy to be honest yet biased by using certain types of benchmarks that favor one product over the other or including (unincluding) certain versions of products among other things.
Most of society has come to expect bias from things like special interest groups and obviously commercials. Yet this honest yet biased reporting from journalists (who clearly know what they are doing) is dispicable. The type of biased editorials in most pc mags and now web sites like THG is dispicable.
Omid, editor of THG knows full well he's not giving the viewer the whole story or a complete picture. THG grew fast and rapid because Tom did a great job of exposing the truth rather than trying to hide it. I'd imagine THG's readership is down and sites like anandtech are up because of the idiot mentality of commercial driven fanboyz like Omid. If only Omid could understand that people who come to sites like this regularly are for the most part knowlegable enthusiasts who seek the truth.
If I glanced at a spilt box of tooth picks on the floor, could I tell you how many are in the pile. Not a chance, But then again I don't have to buy my underware at Kmart.

An editorial is an opinion piece. It's not meant to be taken as fact, although the author can use facts to back up his / her opinion. Editorials will ALWAYS be biased to one side or another. That's why it's called an editorial. It's not meant to report the news... it's meant to express the author's opinions.
So get off your high horse about 'biased' editorials already.

Re: Editorials will ALWAYS be biased to one side or another. That's why it's called an editorial.
Thats just stupid. Tom himself was not biased. A good editorial does not hide facts or misslead consistantly.

I'll give you that point. However, it is still at it's heart an opinion piece. The author doesn't have to give you ANY facts whatsoever... all they have to do is present their opinion. I do agree that it's necessary to back up opinions with solid fact, though.

So was its Omids opinion to leave the celeron and the athlon64 3000 out of the last CPU review or was omid misleading the viewer once again. Leaving those key cpu's out of the review sure made the intel numbers look a whole lot better.
Editorials are free to draw their own "CONCLUSIONS" and voice an opinion even if they do favor 1 side. Personally get fed up with the way omid manipulates the info in order to please the big advertiors and fool or confuse the less (informed) type viewer.

Omid is very different from other hardware website editors. He doesn't write anything except columns (financial fantasy story about AMD/Intel, actually) and few CeBIT/Comdex/IDF coverage article. Look at Anand, Tom (as pre 2002 THG editor), Kyle or other hardware website editors. They don't limit themselves into columns and exhibition coverage.
From this point of view, Omid is even worse than Van Smith
Totally agree with darko21. I take THG articles with a pinch of salt these days, which is a shame because it used to be you could rely on THG as your main source of info. Now you have to shop around the sites to get a balanced view.

You would think that everyone that hates toms and Omid would simply leave since they oviously hate both soo very much. But hey its easier to be self righeous pr*cks with nothing more than time and a ego on their side.
