I am planning to write review of hardware on the college newspaper (10000 readers each week) and i sent a email to intel , nvidia, amd, gigabyte, ati, asus.

my text is almost the same for every email and only the list of bechmark change :
I am Julien Cossette and i test hardware for my college newspaper and since i started doing this i have to pay all the hardware i test. I would like to know if you could send me test hardware. The tests are very professional and are done with multiple computer using different hardware. We use as many programs as we can to test the hardware. Those programs are: Halflife2 beta, 3dmark03, 3dmark01, Homeworld2, Aquamark, halo, Doom3 alpha and finaly Comanche 4.
We think that those programs reprensents a good base of testing. We also do all those tests with different quality setting (like Anti-aliasing).

This newspaper is distributed to more than 10000 persons each week and a lot of them are computer enthusiasts.

do you guys think i have any chance???

Well I suppose worst case scenario you'll have to go asking around campus to see what intel computers you can find that people will let you take apart and use. AMD saw free promotion.

Get a faculty member that has a degree in your corner. As I work in the electronics industry I understand a few things.

First off for example if you worked for a high tech company for legal terms and company professionalism you would need to have a diploma or degree in whatever field of work you performed for the said company.

If you were part of the engineering group you would need your papers before the company would make you privy to types of work or before they could even represent your work to other companies.

They do this to protect the company from any outside hostile intent from competing company's or slander at legal levels. The company has to be able to prove that the work they are performing comes from a qualified individual.

If you write Intel back and tell them that in accordance to your bench testing program in regards to the School news letter that you have your computer science teacher proof reading your documentation and verifying your data they might be more forthcoming.

Your computer science teacher will in fact not have to do much at all accept make sure you are working in a controlled environment and that he understands and respects your work.

Butter the wheels my friend butter the wheels it makes the world go around.
