Updating driver will only make the system worse.
The best way is still to nuke the OS and then do a clean install. Once everything is done, clean install the latest drivers patched from the second partition.

Just to let you know.. I found out the problem. It wasn't hardware or even software.
There was so much dust piled inside the case already it was over heating the board.. and the video card.
A good inch layer seriously all inside the computer.
I'm suprised the 9800pro didn't burn up.. it was so hot when i touched it.
But i cleaned the whole case out and let it cool for a few minutes.. back to normal. I even OC'ed it a bit.

How did that much dust build up in there? Is there a 5800 ultra in there?

That's my computer.. the computer i was fixing was a p4 2.6c with a radeon 9800 pro... but the cheap ass case he had has a huge hole around the I/O ports... dust in his house is insane as well he lives on a dirt road.
Seriously it was nasty in there.. and it's only a month and a half old. Although i'm about to purchase an athlon system and a super lan boy case. I want good overclocking and if i can't get a 2500+ locked to go to 3200+ standards.. then i'll attempt to unlock the multipliers.
