Hi,
two months ago, during a storm and right after a lightning, light went off
and smoke came out of my out-of-warrant HP OFFICEJET V40 all-in-one (!).
After that, the officeJet turns on, but the front panel shows the error
c00f0401, and nothing works.
System error C00F0401
This error message can occur if the all-in-one has been stored
incorrectly.

1.. Unplug the power cord to the all-in-one.
2.. Open the rear access door of the all-in-one.
3.. Rotate the paper feed rollers in an upward direction.
4.. Reinstall the rear access door.
5.. Reconnect the power cord.

If the problem reoccurs, contact HP for assistance.

I tried with the HP support, but it wasn't useful.
They told me that it's not worthy to repairing it, it's too expensive (at
least 170 euros...).

Can anybody help me, please? Any suggestion?
thanks
Lorenzo

All you might be able to do is to find another OfficeJet V40 with a different
problem, exchange circuit boards and try again. Clearly, some electronic
component inside the V40 was seriously damaged by the electrical storm. 170
Euros is not too far from the price of a newer model... Ben Myers
