Hi I was just wondering at about what temp my new AMD athlon XP 2600+ should be running at and what temperature would be considered too hot. I Checked on the AMD Web site but they only say the maximum die temp is 85 degrees Celcius.
my CPU isnt running anywhere close to that but it does go up to 40-45 fairly regularly, at what temp should i start to worry and aprox what temp should it be at most of the time
I'm running prime95 on my 1Ghz thunderbird between 69-72 degrees without errors. It just really depends on the airflow in your case and the effectiveness of your HSF. I wouldn't worry if I were you.
Is your system stable enough you'd run your own life support on it? ---mine is. Soyo KT333 + AXP 1900+
40 and 45 is normal even my XP 2800+ and XP 3200+ run around that temp and the 3200+ is a liquid cooled computer.
It is a Voltage thing and very hard to get the temps down under that. If I crank the cooler up to max on the water cooled system it can drop to almost - C but that is bad because to hot or too cold and I would get moisture/condensation and water and circuits don't mix, so I run it around 45 desktop it proly gets hotter online or in a game.
