whats do you recommend is the best way to clean a SLK800u
heatsink. not the bottom but the whole thing.
I clean the fan often but now the heatsink has alot of dust/dirt in fins. soap and water ? air compressor ?

Compressed canned air all the way. Soap will leave residue wich will effect the heat transfer rate and water is destructive. You can get the canned air from officemax, bestbuy, staples, etc.

Also do not use a air compressor for it discharges moisture with the air which could prove damaging.
