Good Trade for Tritons?

Evaluate this trade

I haven't gone through with it yet, but I would like your ideas on it.

I already have some Turtle Beaches, the 60 dollar pair. I use them for gaming on the computer right now, but the cord is really weird and annoying, plus the mic is kinda chewed up by dogs but still works. Thoughts on this?

Consider, quality of sound, for listening to music and such, and transitions to Xbox 360.

Just returned a pair of these headphones. Mic went out in under 2 days. Rear right speaker went out shortly thereafter. Neither of these are uncommon problems. You're saving a lot of money, but realize that this headset is extremely prone to breakage, the sound is a little thin and tinny as well.

If you want high quality sound, you want high quality stereo headphones (no built in mic) with a large soundstage and a soundcard capable of emulating quality surround sound (x-fi cmss 3d for example). The directional queues from a soundcard's emulated surround on headphones with a large soundstage are quite a bit stronger than headphones with multiple drivers in each cup.

A 200 dollar budget gives you a LOT of breathing room when it comes to quality headphones for gaming. If you don't already own a soundcard though, you will want one to drive a pair of headphones like we are talking about, and obviously that cuts into the budget.

My best recommendation for a combination of mic+headphone+soundcard coming in under 200 dollars would be these 3:

Headphones:

The X-fi is superior in gaming. If you want more a mix of gaming+home theater/music quality, some Asus or Auzentech cards would be more recommended:

Alright, well at the moment I guess I am using the Nvidia High Definition Audio off my GTX 460?

What does a soundcard offer over what I already have, etc. Would it make my Klipsch Pro Media 2.1's sound better? (bass and the like)

Soundcards sound considerably better than onboard realtek audio. I can't say anything about nvidia hdmi sound as I've never plugged into it. Soundcards do offer the best simulated surround sound though and the headphones you linked + a soundcard would offer better positional sound than any true 5.1 headphones.

Thanks! Last question, do you think there are any sound cards that I can get with use of my best buy gift card? Cause I really wanna get rid of it.
PS: I just realized I actually use Realtek audio.

Yes. I actually just bought a sound blaster titanium x-fi at best buy for 10 dollars under internet retailer pricing (59.99). It sounds quite nice and since I'm primarily a gamer, it's the right card for me.

I saw that product, but the reviews are a little shaky. So I will have to investigate more. Thanks for your help.

PS: There was a review that said that you had to change the settings for any application that you run, do you get this problem?

I've never had any problem like that with the x-fi titanium personally. I use some hacked drivers that seem to work quite a bit nicer than the retail version.
