What will you want to do with the Netbook?
They're satisfactory for surfing the 'Net, reading and writing email. And very light basic computer tasks, as long as you're doing those one program at a time.
They are not satisfactory for most typical multi-tasking.

Here is one site's opinion on the best NetBooks:

It sucks because you really can't even do a backup.
You can use a USB flash drive to back up all your data files. Something everyone should do anyway.

I'll sell you an HP 2140 with everything you listed for $300.00 + shipping to India.

By law (if this still applies) I cannot ship an O/S that uses "high-level encryption" out of the US, though. That includes all versions of Windows besides ME,98, and 95.

Laws have eased up a bit, and some countries/us citizens are exempted. Some countries it is possible to buy US versions of the software on US military bases, US embassies.. etc... I don't know about current versions, but previous versions of Windows for other countries were almost exactly the same, but included weaker encryption. The older versions of Windows for foreign markets, like 98 just shipped with IE using 40-bit SSL encryption.

I highly reccomend Asus Eee PC's. They have some great 10 inch netbooks, I have a 1005HA-P and love it. Now you can get them with the newer Pine Trail Atom processors.

I would pick the 1005PE-P if I had to choose one today. Its advertised with up to 14 hours of battery life.

@buwish: Just as zipzoomflyhigh asked, does NewEgg operates in India?

@zipzoomflyhigh: I would have bought a laptop, but my budget is low. :(

@WRT2: I wish to mostly use it for internet surfing and social networking. Other than that, I would extensively use MS Office.

@rdc363: Is it second hand or new?

@jkeopka: I have heard a lot about Asus EEE PCs too. Will they fit in my budget?

@ All:

Gizmodo has given a good review of the Acer Aspire One 532h. In fact, it is the only Netbook in my budget that have reviewed.

What is your opinion regarding the same. Can I get this model in India?

Internet surfing and social networking will not be a problem for a netbook.
Using MS Office on a netbook will be a VERY unsatisfactory experience. 1024 x 600 screen size is very small for work projects.
See if you can't find a model with the 1280 x 720 pixel screen.
Multi-tasking is next to impossible given the standard low res screen and the very weak Atom single core CPU.
