1000 canadian is roughly what in us?
I would get(and I did) exactly what is in my sig, in the aquamarks.
abit nf7-s
mushkin lvl2 pc3500 512MB
9800pro no side companies.
barton 2500+XP
Thermalright 900a or u.. whichever one it is. with a nice fan.
Descent air flow mid case 70-90us dollars.
7200rpm hard drive.. Seagate or Western Digital.
It's oced to a 3200xp completely stable, it ran prime95 3 days straight at 41c.
Right now oddly it's at 30c which i'm not trusting it really.. but it woke up from sleep about an hour ago.

$1000Cad is about $750us.
I would suggest the following, prices from anitec.ca These prices are in Cad $ not $us
Proc - xp2500+ $120
mob - Abit NF7-S ver 2 $130
mem -Kingston hyper X pc3200 2- 256meg $224
Video - Saphire 9600xt $209
hdd - Seagate 80 gig $86
Case - to your taste
Case and taxes for $230 should be doable.

Found the geil at ncix.com. They also have the Kingston cheaper and the ocz in between. They have a lot more selection and the prices (on ram) are very good. Been to the shop though, prices are usually higher than anitec ( cpu + $10 Mobo +$15 Video + $15 hdd + $10) and the service is hard to come by. Did rma an 8500Le there, no problem after the 45 minute wait to talk to someone. Waiting always tees me off.

Well for gamming then your focus should be on your choice of a graphics card in this case either the 9800 pro or the 9600XT.

Barton 2500+ @ 2200mhz (10x220 vcore @ 1.8)
Asus A7N8X Dlx 440 FSB
1gb Geil GD pc3500 Dual Channel (2-3-3-6)
Segata 80gb SATA 8.5ms seek
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro(420/720)

I got my geil at ncix too. It's working well in my nforce2. Yeah the waits suck sometimes, but it's no matter. You can pricematch at ncix so you'll always get a lower price there.
