how long should it take

how long should it take to convert a full 2 hour dvd to divx. with my duron 900 it took a bit over 5 hours to do would that shorten by much if i got an a64 3200 rig if so by how much

Of course it would shorten the time required... By how much? I would suspect it would cut the time to about an hour or less, but thats just a guess. Try and find some benchmarks or reviews of the A64, see if you can find the info.

It would take about two hours...until you get into FX/Opteron and the 3+GHz P4s, it's only about a 1:1 (encoding time:movie time) ratio (or worse, like in your Duron 900).

Maxtor disgraces the six letters that make Matrox.
