Hi Guys,
Once again I come to this forum to seek the advice from you. I'm planning, in the near furutre, to purchase a Notebook. I usually do a lot of multimedia and 3d animations stuff so I'm looking for something more powerful than portable. I've seen computers with P4 and Centrino CPU's and was wondering which one would be more suitable to the type of work I do. I've seen some options on the net lile HP ZD7000 and Dell's M60, one has a P4 at 3.2 Ghz and the other one a Centrino 1.7 Ghz processor. So what do you guys think would be the best, centrino or p4?
Thanks

There is no processor by that name, the Centrino package includes the Pentium-M and a wireless solution. The P-M 1.7 should compete against a P4-M 2.4. Of course it would get up to 50% better battery life, except that manufacturers see that as a chance to use a battery with only 2/3 the capacity. But you still get a benefit in the laptop being lighter and usually thinner.

Anyway, the P4 3.2 desktop CPU would make your laptop basically a portable desktop, you wouldn't have enough battery life for any serious mobile use. And the system would likely be hard to tote around, very heavy.

a Pentium-M Centrino 1.7ghz will beat a P4-M 2.6ghz in Mobilemark2002 and have longer battery life.

Just click compare performance on the right column

Thanks. Does Pentium M support Hyperthreading? I don't travel much so it doesn't really mater the weight.I care more about processing power.

Why choose between ultimate performance and acceptable battery life when you can have both ?

The 64 bitness comes free with the moderate price tag :)
