Attempting to burn a movie to dvd and it keeps saying unable to locate suitable

i have downloaded a few movies and want to burn them to dvd but whenever i put in a dvd-r it doesnt read it and says to insert a disc or cant find suitable dvd burner drive. what is the problem????

I'd hope these are LEGALLY downloaded movies. For answering your question, I will assume that they are. You'll need to download a burning rom. Usually everyone goes with NERO burning rom. Just google it and you'll be able to DL it and use it for free for 30 days or something.

Getting a downloaded movie file onto a disc can be FAR more complicated than simply obtaining NERO or any other piece of software. What is the suffix of the files you are downloading? Also, where do you expect to play the DVDs you create, on a stand alone player or on your computer?
