That's quite funny. I think I'd have to do something similar if my parents gave me a mac (they're equally clueless, and I'm equally anti-mac )

Mind you, that's a helluva lot of money's worth he's destroyed there. I might actually have to make up some BS about how the software I need to use simply isn't available on Mac (true really) and try to allow them to let <i>me</i> build a PC to the same value... that would be a pretty kick-ass system

i am by no means a mac fanboi but i think the g5 would probably perform better than whatever he put in there...

I would have ebayed the guts of the computer if i <i>really</i> wanted to do that mod, surely you could get at least 2k $$ for that stuff.

Yep - this guy is a twonk.

My only major gripe about Macs is their price (and a few GUI things); if someone gave me a G5, I would be delighted.

I think he did right and wrong. It show how Much a mac crap can be upgraded and how crappy they are.

The more that I think about what was done to that poor G5, the more that I understand the motivation of the young lad. It was a rather impetuous act. He should have just explained that his software was not Mac software and that while he geratly appreciated the thought the machine was nearly useless to him.

The opposite side of that coin however is that obviously his parents were not very involved in his life and are not strong communicators themselves to not have known that he was not a Mac user and to not have asked what he would have liked for a PC. Therefore it is entirely possible that discourse with his parents over the matter would have resulted in dysfunctional anguish.

When it comes down to it, who are we to really say if he did the right thing or not? We do not know his situation at all. Therefore I propose that we give it a pass on judging his actions and instead just simply find humor in the modifications made. His parents are happy. He is happy. Why should we be anything but happy as well?

Maybe its not right to make judgement on this kid, but hell I dont think we'll see different opinions on this one...

I dont like mac's either but hell I could find some use for it.
Antoher thing is that he mentions that he uses his computer to surf the net rip dvds and foold with his friends. I tought the G5(Fastest PC in the world!!!!)could at leats do that...

This kid wanted attention now he got what he wanted(maybe not for the reason he was expecting).

OMG- everyone missed the top part of the article. He got freaked out by all these people calling him an idiot ant telling him that he " needed to be strung up by his testicles and set on fire (some serious crazies in the mac community fo real)" that he apologized and admitted that the whole thing was a joke he played on a hardcore mac friend. Personally I think this guy is a sick motherf@#cker but he sure did get a lot of people. I had a good laugh.
