Headaches in 2D from 3D TV

I'm thinking about getting a 3-D TV for the family. I actually get a lot of headaches from 3-D, so it will be mostly for others, but I have heard that the 2-D mode on 3-D TVs can give people headaches, too. In other words, is the 2-D mode on a 3-D TV different than on a regular HDTV? Does anyone who does not get headaches from regular HDTV get a headache in the 2-D mode of a 3-D TV?
