I opened my pictures in paint and now they are all messed up help

I was trying to figure out how to change the resolution on pictures. I want to put them in a cookbook project and was told the resolution was too low. I opened pictures in Paint but did not do anything now they will only open in paint and are all sized large and you only see half the picture Can you help? Thank you

after you resized it you could have chosen "file/save as?.......... either jpeg or gif........... ?? reopen with paint and try that.
