Does anybody recognize this noise?
http://www.m.kth.se/raptor/noise.mp3 (40 kb)

I've tried to fix my computer for over 6-7 months, but without luck.

I have an AMD 2100+ and this is what i have modified to try and get rid of the noise:

Changed power supply
removed the CPU, cleaned it, and placed it back
removed the power cable to all cd rom drives, FDD drive.
removed the power cable from the HDD while running
tested with another graphics card
stopped all fans that is in the case gently with a piece of paper
removed all pci cards

all of this (and probably more) and still, same noise coming!

Please!!!!!!!!! pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:(

A couple of things for you to check:
1. Is your monitor cable shielded?
2. Is your monitor close to other electronic sources?
3. Are your speakers configured correctly?
4. Is there a mic and/or webcam connected to your system?
5. Is one of your speaker cables plugged into the mic jack?

also... boot Computer with no monitor......... it could be a high Pitch from the monitor.. And also... When you hear this noise can you zone in on a specific location? say like... deff coming from case? or its' coming out of the speakers? Do you have a range of where your hearing this noise........ ALSO......... your DRIVES... CD-Roms..... have you looked into those?.........and also......... your Volume Control Panel.... i noticed sometimes if you have your WAV level WAY up and you have your speakers up you will hear a sound like that some times...... but if its external and is not coming from speakers, then that's not it.......... just trying to give you some other approaches

it sounds like it's coming from the via chipset, but that doesn't have a fan, just a metal housing over it with weirdlike clips, i have no idea how to remove the housing.

Also, yes, the monitor is off, and i've disconnected the internal speaker.

Sounds like an Interal MOBO problem... deff maybe like a wireless object is causing some noise interference? do you have like one of those 2.4ghz phones near your PC or anything? Not positive but just to throw some ideas around.. and also, look up the Exact mother board you have and search around for any other sites complaining about a simpilar problem with the same board. Or also did you try calling up the boards company and asking them if they ever heard such a thing?

Did not check out your noise;but alot of people complain about raptors whining, one reason for the whine is overheating,if nothing else works try putting your HD in a good HDD cooler-it has worked for some people.

i also think it's an internal mobo problem, and yes i have mailed them, but they don't know of the issue but "heard" of it.
Also, i've shut down the HD, and it won't help.

Try touching the north bridge hs while you here the noise. It could be vibrating. Sometimes the thermal compound is not well applied, a reapplication may be required. Also look for damaged fins.
