Hello,

can I install Windows 3.11 beside Windows 95b on this machine?
How to do it? I want to be able to choose the OS from a bootmenue.
Is this possible?

The reason why i want to use Win 3.11 here, is that someone
on the net told me that i can increase the operating-time. (Win 3.x
consumes less ressources =
less energy). I have got 5 new NiMh-Battery-packs for this Unit and with
Windows 95
i only can work 2-2,5 hours with each battery. The more would be better
;-)

Thank you,

Euro

To be honest with you, windows 95, I think, is the lowest you would
want to go. Windows 95 offers usb support (you have to install it
from the cd, see www.usbman.com for details on this easy procedure).
It will also allow you to use a later version of internet explorer so
that you can actually visit websites when you're online. Windows 95
is as computer-freindly as they get. It requires little more
resources that 3.11, and if it cost you 5 minutes run time, it would
be worth it to have windows 95. It is your heavy, high CPU-usage
programs, not your operating system, that tax your battery. -Dave

YOu can do this, there are many available.
I use "Smart Boot Manager" on my desktop.

Battery life depends a lot on what you do.
There's a program called "cpu idle" that puts the processor to sleep
during idle cycles. I find that works better than most of the utilities
that come with laptops.
The backlight is using a lot of juice. Have it off when you're not
using it.
How much memory do you have? Adding memory can reduce disk thrashing
considerably.
If you're gonna carry around 5 batteries, you might be better off with
ONE BIG external battery.
All depends on what you're doing.

Hi David,

this laptop has no USB. It was build in 1992.
Thanks for your suggestions!
