I'm cutting the cord and going OTA soon and I'd like to build an HTPC that can feed content to:
An LG 47LM6400, DLNA able, connected to a Sony BDP-BX57, smart and 3D both.
A Sony KDL-40S504 connected to a Sony DVP-NS71HP, not too bright but set with a Roku2 XS.
A Viore 24” connected to a Sony DVP-SR200P and a Roku2 XS.
A Hitachi 32” connected to an Xbox.
I'd like for family to be able to watch all 4 TVs and record 2 events simultaneously, so I guess 6 tuners in total, have DVR capability in every room, stream downloaded torrents, play games and browse the internet.
Hardware acquired over the years but never took the time to put to use:
Zyxel Media Server, NSA320
Hitachi HD, 1TB, 32MB, 7200rpm
Seagate HD, 320GB, 16MB, 7200rpm
An Ultra Wizard Steel Series ATX Mid-Tower case, and another generic ATX.
An iPod Touch, 8GB model AI288
Currently in use:
A LG Motion Android phone
A HP G71 445US with win7
A Compaq CQ50-210US with Vista.
A HP Pavilion Slimline running on an AMD Athlon X2 64 with Vista.
A WD MyBook 2TB.
A Belkin N750 wireless router.
An intimidating display of technology for sure , that would be nice to prove useful but it doesn't have to be integrated in the new system.
For $500 I've been offered the following so please tell me if it's a good deal and serves my purpose even if I have to add some components to it:
CPU: Intel i5-2500K 3.3 GHz
Memory: 8GB DDR3 Corsair XM3-1066
Motherboard: Asus P8Z68-M Pro Motherboard, including PCI-E 3.0, USB 3.0, Gigabit Ethernet, etc.
Video Card: EVGA GTX 460 SC
Power Supply: Antec Neo Eco 620W
Hard Drive: 1TB Western Digital
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate (comes with authentic key+box)
Optical Drive: ASUS DVD-RW drive
Case: Silverstone LC13B-E Aluminum+Steel HTPC Case
I don't mind a large initial outlay of cash for a dream machine, as long as I deliver a great TV experience to my family. Thanks everybody!!!
