Hi,
I'm looking at getting some CPUs for a dual capable rack server. It currently has no processors in it. I see I can buy a PIII-S 1.4Ghz for $200, and a III for $120. The non S has 512K cache, 133mhz fsb, and socket 370, exactly the same as the III-S. I had thought that the difference between the two versions was that the S was dual capable, and had double the cache. Since the cache seems to be the same, can I expect them to run fine on a dual proc motherboard?

As far as I know only the Server and Mobile versions have 512k, so it's possible the "other" processor your seeing has been mislabled?

OK, that's what my research made me suspect. Also, I just noticed ther words "Coppermine" in the description, but I don't think that tells me much.

coppermine means it must have 256kb of cache...

er 1.4ghz cumine...the site you are looking at is [-peep-] up!

If it isn't a P6 then it isn't a procesor

OMG! D00D, it also says FCPGA. Someone is going to buy this for their non-tualatin board and...have it not work. According to what they wrote this thing should work it the CUBX, BX133-RAID, and CUSL2. But we know the Coppermine didn't go that high, and the last Coppermines were FC-PGA2 (means they had a heat spreader).
