SP1 has refresh rate fix?

I set a higher refresh rate than 60hz, when THG stated it was no longer resetting when playing games, but it still does. Am I missing some feature in SP1 or what?

Are you using the DirectX Diagnostic Tool?

Start Menu > Run > "dxdiag" > More help (tab) > Override

Sorry if I misinterpreted...

Hmm, and that feature is now fully appliable? I mean it was there all the time before SP1, but I guess you must be sure that it's now working, if you gave me that advice. I'll give it a try, thanks!

Yeah it seemed to do the trick.
One thing that simply PLAGUES my monitor, is that when it switches to the same res, it has to switch (even if I am using that res in Windows), even with same refresh rate, and what happens is it is not a full switch (I hear the tick sound of a res switch usually), and I get a very stretched view afterwards. I have to close and re-open the monitor to get my usual view back. It's annoying cuz it happens when switching to a game or users in the same res!

Hmm...I wish I knew what's wrong with your monitor then (if there is a problem with it). I guess that's all I can help ya with for now?

I hope someone else can help, or you can figure it out.

Quite a while back, I ran into this "refresh rate" problem.

I think it was with the detonator 23.xx's, or so. I usually keep it locked at 1024x768@85hz.

Unless a game specifically overrides it, like Icewind Dale 2 or Deus Ex. But they both have config filez that you can specify the refresh rate in.

So, I don't have the "refresh" problem anymore.

Which games are you all playing where you're having this problem?

Now are you talking about the refresh rate changing in WinXP, or my monitor's sudden screen switch stretching that pops when changing to something at the same res?
For my problem, I am pretty sure it's the damn monitor, which I will get a new one hopefully soon.

No, I found the problem.

It's the quake3 engine. I [-peep-] hate that engine, and this is just another reason why.

No other games I have do this. Thief, Icewind Dale, Tomb Raider.

But Medal of Honor and Jedi Knight 2 both do the 60hz thing. That is some severely retared sh!t. There's at least three corporations that just need to get the piss slapped out of them for this.

The answer is, of course, for the quake3 boyz to include a simple global like the Unreal boyz do.
