HP PSC 1610 display problems

My PSC 1610 display shows nothing but indecipherable characters and is constantly scrolling gibberish. The printer works fine but I cant see what I am doing from the printer. Any ideas gratefully received.

See if you can (borrow ?) attach a different monitor to the PC -- or try your monitor with another PC. That way you will be able to isolate whether it's the monitor or the video circuitry on your computer which is at fault.
