Why should we help you??

Oh yeah, you can get much better Athlon systems for probably the same price, Willy and P4 Celeries are crap. Since you are obstinent about it...I'd go for...well, neither: they suck.

Maxtor disgraces the six letters that make Matrox.

Problems with the first system:
1) You wouldn't be able to buy a new PC with those specs anymore, everything's too old.
2) P4 1.5 is a williamette - Willy P4s suck
3) RDRAM is expensive to upgrade, and it only has 128Mb of it
4) Gfx card sucks. inadequate even for most more modern Q3 engine games, which are now becoming obsolete.
5) no DVD-ROM; no CDRW (Both useful these days)
6) comparatively small HDD.
7) small monitor

Problems with the Second system:
1) P4-based Celerys suck even more than williamette P4s
2) 192Mb of RAM is insufficient really today, and PC3200 is completely pointless for that CPU; PC1600 is sufficient, plus 192Mb can only be got with NON-matched pairs, meaning no dual channel RAM (assuming the motherboard is an Asus P4P800 it would support this)
3) Video card sucks compared to others available
4) Sony monitors are nice, but usually overpriced for what they are (I own a £300 Sony 17" monitor [a birthday present] so I do know whereof I speak here)

So simply put, I agree with Vapor. I couldn't recommend either of those systems to anyone and still sleep at night  .

Why are you so set on either one of those 2?

The A system are 3 years ago, if I have such a pc,I will upgrade it right now,how come you are willing to buy?
There's no reason to buy a CPU based Celeron4 in any case.

I agree 100% with crashman. Unless you can buy these for like $200, its a total waste of money and you may well be doing your brother in law a disservice, especially with the RDRAM system. I'm curious why you would have to choose between both (I suspect a budget issue, if so, please give us your budget), and how much the shop is asking for them.

I can appreciate not everyone has $2000 to spend on a PC, but for any given budget, we should be able to either spec something better, or point you to ebay for a better, used machine.

For that kind of money, even a AMD XP 2400 would be better - with a 9600XT and cdrw if you're on a budget.

Really both those arent worth buying. Not that the one above is either, but its better :)
