Hi, this is my first time building a pc and I'm worried about making a mistake. My question is will win 98 support athlon 2500+. I'd rather not upgrade to xp if I don't have to. Here is the full layout:

20 GB hard drive
2x PC3200 256 mb Crucial
ASUS nForce2 Ultra 400 A7N8X
AMD Athlon XP 2500+ "Barton", 333 FSB, 512K Cache
Foxconn Beige Mid-Tower Super Case with 350W Power Supply
Sound Blaster 16 PCI
Radeon 9800 Pro

Are there any compatibility issues?

Yes, there are no problems there. Win98 will fully support your system. Just make sure you get the proper drivers for your version of Windows from Nvidia's (chipset), ATI's (graphics card) and Creative's (sound card) websites.

I'd like to suggest the Abit NF7-S rev. 2.0, as it has top performance, a great price, and includes the nForce APU (a top notch Digital Sound Processor).

It says 3 dimm for 2700/2100 and 2 dimm for 3200? Should I get pc3200 or pc2700 memory then? And also if I in the future upgrade to a 400mhz fsb proc would I need ddr400 to go with it or am I getting the P4 confused?

Why do u keep ur Sound Blaster 16PCI? I think the onboard Sound Card is better than that
Didn't the Nforce2 sound have problems working under Windows 98?
