There isn't any stores in this area that carry Olympic brand paint. I've
taken the paint codes from Scott's site to several different stores and got
nothing but blank stares. Does anyone else have a color code that will get
me the right color paint for this cabinet?

Same here. Just shot a cabinet last week, Scott's colors are dead on though
I freely admit I did use Olympic paint....

No Lowe's anywhere near here. I'm not even sure there is a Lowe's in
Canada..
Any other way to get the PMS color or some other code that someone here
might understand?

Do you feel that latex paint is durable enough for this application and does
it give a factory look? I have a few cabinets to paint and it just seems
that latex house paint is pretty far from what was originally used/intended
for the cabinets. I'd appreciate any thoughts or opinions.
Thanks

Actually I had the same concerns until I applied the paint. The base coat
dried very quickly - in fact, I was able to SAND it within 2 hours (I was
told it would "ball up" ), but it behaved just like any lacquer. IT sanded
easily, gave off a very "apparent" dust, and repainted with ease on the next
coat.
After a few days, what I realy like about it is that it truly "hugs" the
surface of the wood. If you look closely from a side view, you can see the
plywood grain underneath - much like a factory paint job. It is very
durable, bright, easy to clean, and extremely opaque (hides well and has
good saturation). I WOULD recommend it!

No Lowe's in Canada, and they won't ship there. You can order from
them online though. If you have relatives in the U.S. ship it to them,
then have them ship to you. Seems like a lot of work for 3 quarts of
paint though. If that doesn't work, I will buy you the 3 quarts and
ship them to you. E-mail me.

Really Latex paint for a pinball cabinet is not the best choice
from a "look" and durability standpoint. Frankly I would not
use it.
BUT on the other hand, most people do not have much choice.
It certainly is convenient (Scott documented the color codes),
it's easy to work with (water based), and readily available.
Does it look right though? No it doesn't. But it's still
probably the best choice for the average person doing a cabinet
repaint.
Repainting a pinball cabinet with Latex reminds me of all the
video game cabinets I saw during the early 1990s that were
converted. Black latex, a roller, hey it's a new game! Man
those all looked awful. If you're using a roller to paint the
Latex, that will only make the "look" worse (way worse).
Spraying latex is better. But it's not what the factory used,
and it sure doesn't look like factory style paint to me.
But on the other hand, for joe-average, there isn't much choice
any more in available paints.
