Not sure how to describe it. It is almost like the plunger gets stuck
down. Almost seems like it is maginitized down to bottom bracket. And
after forcing it appart from the bracket, it works fine for a while.

Anyone seen this?

You could try replacing the coil sleeve.
You could also demagnatize the plunger if you have a degauzing tool
available.

You can swap the sleeve with the one on the knocker for now and see if
that works.

Have you changed the coil sleave, looked for wear on the plunger and
made sure the coil is tight and aligned properly?
