Well, let's compare opterons running a 64 bit OS and code with itaniums, and the rest with Xeons. That would be somewhat more interesting. Opterons (cpu's) start at $169, so its hardly surprising it outsells Itanium. Compare it to Xeon, and you'll get a .. hmm.."sightly" different picture.

This is info from December 3rd. “Old”

Intel sold (<A HREF="http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=13104" target="_new">gave</A> <A HREF="http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/61/34405.html" target="_new">away</A>) enough Itaniums to clear 100,000 for the year.

Itaniums are going to be sick. I'm going to buy a nice Itey system for gaming. :) Nothing would stop me then.
