Hi
I am running Windows XP Pro SP2. I have a dial up connection in my
startup group which I want to autodial when I log into windows. However,
it does not autodial it just presents me with the dial up dialog and I
need to click the dial button. All the requisite parameters have been
filled in, how can I get this to autodial without having to press the
dial button - I got this working OK on XP Home and have compared the
settings but can't see anything different.

many thanks

First thing...
Control Panel|INTERNET OPTIONS|CONNECTIONS tab. Check to see whether
"always dial default" is enabled.

Craig,

You could use the Rasdial.exe command-line.
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/ntcmds.mspx

Rasdial <connectoid name> "username" "password" (beware! it's in clear-text)

"
username [password | *] : Specifies a user name and password with which to
connect. If an asterisk is used, the user is prompted for the password, but
does not display the characters typed.

And yet another possibility - a utility to automate the task...
http://www.clearlight.com/~rtvsoft/RtvReco.htm

A bit of a learning curve to set up, but works well at recognizing text
boxes and pushing their buttons.

If you have a Dial-up network entry set up, with the user name and password
store, you could place a shortcut in the Start-up group for the user
account.
