My learned friends,

I am having an issue with my USB2 ports. I have recently upgraded a machine
from XP Home to XP pro. Since the upgrade the USB ports are no longer
recognising and devices that are plugged into them. I really need the data on
my USB memory stick so I tried to reinstall XP Home ed to no avail.

Please advise as to how I might resolve this.

Thanking you in advance

Yours,

Joe

Hi Joe,

You can't install WinXP Home over WinXP Pro (but you know that now), it's a
one way trip. A place to start:

When you upgraded from Home to Professional did you update the new install
to either SP1 or SP2. You need at least SP1 for enhanced USB support (USB
2.0). SP2 is recommended for security reasons.
