I have both already, the thing is on my old PC i had a 2500 barton, but I just made a new one, and gave the old one to my bro with the 2500, but I put a 2400 in the new one, so I was wondering, if I would notice the PC slower for games and such.

On the new PC with the XP2400, I have 2 sticks of 512mb pc2700, one is PNY and the other is Kingston in dual channel mode.

Then I guess there will be a slight difference between the two, you being slightly slower in some games. Can you exchange it without your bro knowing?

well, the thing is, a friend of my bro built the PC's and he doesn't want to change them, he said it was too much of a hassle, heh.

Lol, can't you do it instead ov him?

In any case, the difference is small. If I were in your position, I wouldn't bother, unless I'm the sort that "needs" the extra fps.

The xp2400+ runs at 2 gigs, while the xp2500+ runs at 1.833 gigs but has twice the cache. Most games prefer the extra speed, so stick with the 2400. The only real advantage comes if you overclock. Bothe chips will run at 2.2+ gig, but the xp2500 now has the advantage due to the extra cache.

If you don't overclock, then 2400+ is better

Ok, I think I got another problem.
Since the XP2400 is a 266fsb, now my ram which is 333, only runs at 266, and when I increase to 333 it says its been overclocked, so will the speed diff between my ram will by ALOT noticeable? (333 vs 266)
I have about 1 gig of ram in dual channel mode, btw.

As you know the diff is around 67FSB
I think it is not so obvious in normal office environment but could be the difference between enjoying games or suffering.

A fine day!

Wouldnt make a big difference at all, especially as @266 Mhz it runs in synch with your cpu.

I am severly limited in what my mind can perceive.

Your system is fine. Since you have DDR333, then you can try a bit FSB overclocking. You will need very little effort to overclock AXP 2400+ with nForce2, and it's very unlikely to cause any damage if you don't push it too hard.

Is your 2400 multiplier locked? If it is, you can still get it up to around 150 fsb with a good heatsink... that would be 2250... 2150 might be fine with the stock heatsink... but 148x15=2220 might be a good setting...

If your 2400 is not multiplier locked, you could get 13x167=2171... either way... your computer is very fast... If both are locked, keep the 2400... unless you have a good heatsink and overclockable ram... if either are unlocked, get it and use it!
