Never simply trust an outlet when plugging a game in. The outlet may
"trick" you in to thinking it's working. There is a much better test
as described below.
1. Drag the game as close as possible to the plumbing in the house.
2. get two 4 gauge wires about 8 feet long and silver solder 1
alligator clip to one end of each wire (two alligator clips or a
jumper cable clip can work in a pinch).
3. connect each alligator clip to both ear lobes using conductive gel.
the kind used for doing EKG tests works quite well.
4. securely fasten the other (non-alligator clip) end of each wire to
a copper pipe, preferably the main plumbing line coming in to the
house.
5. dump water on the floor so that both the game and the pinhead
testing the game are saturated with water. VERY IMPORTANT - never
where shoes or socks when performing this test. this part of the test
is just a little something extra to ensure the test will work
correctly.
6. plug the game in to an outlet near the plumbing. if possible avoid
an extension cord, but if requried, ensure it's the kind that can be
used with a 110 volt MIG welder with no appreciable voltage drop.
7. look inside the game for a "Danger High Voltage" sign. Tear it off
and throw it away since it isn't necessary for the test. Note the
wiring that was being protected by the flimsy cardboard or broken
plexiglass cover with the High Voltage sign.
8. CAREFULLY follow the power cord to where it is connected to the
transformer.
9. Get ready for the "grasp test" and take a big breath in and then
let it out slowly.
10. when all breath is let out, immediately grasp the two exposed ends
of the power cord and see if electricity is present. if so, you will
know it. if not, check the circuitry at your house since it probably
has a problem.
this test will ensure that no stinking outlets will "trick" you in to
thinking they are working. repeat the test until no longer necessary.
you'll know when the time comes.
